According to statistics, there are more than 80,000 dealers in the tool market in South Korea. In 2016, the total output value of the tool industry in South Korea was $3.97 billion, with exports of $2.422 billion, imports of $1.215 billion and domestic sales of $1.99 billion. The domestic market for IT integrated machining and cutting tools increased by 7.2 percent. Among them, the production value of cutting tools industry in 2016 was 2.55 billion us dollars, with exports of 1.926 billion us dollars, imports of 626 million us dollars and domestic sales of 1.225 billion us dollars. South Korea is a big consumer of tools, mainly concentrated in the automobile, machine tools, molds, electronics and other industries. The automobile industry ranks the 5th in the world, the electronics industry the 2nd, the machine tool industry the 7th and the mould industry the 4th. Forecast aviation, semiconductor, electrical, new energy, construction, new materials and other industries have huge development space, making it become an important base for global tool production, circulation, consumption, and also laying a foundation for the Korean tool market to become the Asian tool market center.
