Steps and precautions for sawing

1. Select saw blade

Select the appropriate number of teeth for the saw blade based on the hardness and thickness of the workpiece material.

2. Clamping saw blade

Clamp the saw blade forward onto the saw bow, paying attention to the direction of the saw blade to ensure cutting when pushing forward. The tension of the saw blade should be appropriate, usually until it can be tightened with the force of two fingers. In addition, the saw blade should not be skewed or twisted, otherwise it may easily break during sawing.

The workpiece should be clamped on the left side of the vise as much as possible to avoid damaging the left hand during operation. The workpiece should extend out of the jaw short, and the cutting line should be close to the jaw, otherwise there will be vibration during sawing. The workpiece should be clamped tightly and there should be no shaking.

3. Sawing

When starting the saw, hold the saw blade with your left flat thumb and push the handle steadily with your right hand. The starting angle is approximately 15 °. If the sawing angle is too large, the serrations will be stuck by the edges of the workpiece and will collide with the serrations; The sawing angle is too small, and the serrations are not easy to cut into the workpiece, which may slip and damage the surface of the workpiece. When starting the saw, the reciprocating stroke of the saw bow should be short, the pressure should be small, and the saw blade should be perpendicular to the surface of the workpiece.

4. Sawing action

When sawing, hold the saw handle with your right hand and gently support the front end of the bow frame with your left hand, as shown in Figure 4. The saw bow should move back and forth in a straight line, and should not swing left or right to prevent the saw seam from tilting and breaking the saw blade. When pushing forward, apply pressure evenly; When returning, slightly lift the hand saw to reduce wear in the middle of the teeth: the cutting speed should be 30-60 round-trip times per minute.

When sawing, use the full length of the saw blade (at least 2/3 of the total length) to avoid local wear and tear. When sawing steel materials, lubricate with engine oil. When cutting quickly, use light force to avoid damaging your arms. When pushing forward, apply pressure evenly. When returning, the saw blade gently slides over the workpiece. When cutting quickly, use light force to avoid damaging your arms and breaking the saw blade.

When sawing hard materials, it should be slower, and when sawing soft materials, it should be faster. At the same time, the sawing stroke should be kept even. The speed of the return journey should be relatively faster to improve production efficiency.

matters needing attention:

1. When practicing sawing, it is necessary to pay attention to the installation of the workpiece and the installation of the saw blade, and to pay attention to the correct sawing method and angle to avoid causing waste and damage to the saw blade from the beginning of sawing.

2. As a beginner in sawing, it is not easy to master the sawing speed, and often the pushing speed is too fast, which can easily make the saw blade blunt quickly. At the same time, it is common to have incorrect postures such as unnatural swinging posture and excessive swinging amplitude, which should be corrected promptly.

3. Pay attention to the straightness of the saw seam in a timely manner and correct it in a timely manner (if there is too much deviation, the quality of the sawing cannot be guaranteed).

4. When sawing steel parts, some engine oil can be added to reduce the friction between the saw blade and the sawing section and cool the saw blade, which can improve the service life of the saw blade.

5. After the sawing is completed, the tension nut on the saw bow should be appropriately relaxed, but the saw blade should not be removed to prevent the parts on the saw bow from scattering, and it should be properly placed.

The thickness of serrations

The thickness of steel teeth is represented by the number of teeth per 25mm length of the saw blade, including 14, 18, 24, and 32, which are generally divided into coarse, medium, and fine types. The more teeth, the finer the teeth.

Generally speaking, the chip holding groove of coarse gear racks is larger and suitable for cutting soft materials or larger sections, because in this working condition, there are more chips per saw, and the large chip holding groove can prevent blockage and affect the cutting efficiency.

Fine toothed saw blades should be used for sawing hard materials or workpieces with smaller cutting surfaces. Due to the difficulty of hard materials being sawn in, there are fewer chips per saw, making it difficult to block the chip groove. At the same time, the number of teeth participating in the cutting of fine-tooth saw blades increases, which can reduce the amount of sawing carried by each tooth, reduce the sawing resistance, make the material easy to cut, save labor in pushing the saw, and make the steel teeth less prone to wear.

When sawing pipes and thin plates, a fine-tooth saw blade must be used, otherwise the teeth will be hooked due to the tooth pitch being greater than the thickness of the plate, resulting in breakage. At least two or more sawteeth on the sawing section of the Bobi material must participate in the sawing simultaneously to avoid being hooked.

1. T-step standing

2. Hold the handle with your right hand and support the bow with your left hand

3. Uniform sawing speed (eliminating impact sawing)

4. When pushing forward, the right shoulder assists in forcefully pushing forward, and the saw blade gently slides back on the return journey

5. Walking full bow (using full saw blade)

6. Hold the saw bow and do not sway left or right

7. Correct the sawing path at any time without deviation

8. It is best not to replace the old saw blade with a new one (except when the saw blade is broken)

9. When the sawing is almost finished, the force should be slowed down to prevent hand injury
